  What is Personal Letter? Personal letter is a type of letter (or informal composition) that usually concerns personal matters (rather than professional concerns) and is sent from one individual to another. (Richard Nordquist , Ph. D.)   STRUCTURE — Your Address All that is needed is your street address on the first line and the city, state and zip on the second line. (Not needed if the letter is printed on paper with a letterhead already on it.) — Date Put the date on which the letter was written in the format Month Day Year e.g. August 30, 2003.
